At last our weather seems to be picking up, after what seems like months of rain. We are in a luckier part of the country too, with not nearly as much rain as the west coast of Britain has had. We have however had some really bad windy spells and our local beach front is in a terrible mess, so much damage to beach huts and the promenade. Hopefully gradually it will get sorted over the next few months. There are lots of signs that spring is coming, daffodils galore in my front garden, lots of early flowers – in fact the roses haven’t stopped flowering all winter as, although very wet and windy, it has not been really cold. Lots of trees in our town are coming into blossom, which is really early. Today the sun is shining and it looks very inviting outside. A walk on the beach later!

The website has been updated with three new designs this month. With thoughts of spring there is this cute seasonal design. SpringI also added a design made for anyone who sews. LovetoSewThere is also a pretty butterfly design.

I painted my sewing room lilac to brighten it up and I am pleased with it. I also had a good clear out in the process and reorganised everything. I even managed to fit another sewing table into the room after moving it round without cluttering it up more! I found a bargain in a local charity shop, which was a vintage Singer in lovely condition. After an oil it sews beautifully. It was too pretty to leave!

I found a couple of  lilac flowered single sheets in a charity shop and recycled them into a patchwork double duvet cover and pillowcases for the guest bed in my sewing room. It worked really well, I’m pleased with how pretty they look.

Finally I can’t post without spring photographs, so here are a couple of my spring flowers.

Pulmonaria is flowering on the shady side of my garden.

Our elderly cat, Cyrus, was also enjoying the sunshine this morning. This photo of him made me smile as I caught him with his tongue out!

We have had some lovely weather in East Anglia this week and it is starting to feel like Spring is well on the way. Many of the spring flowers are appearing early so I have posted the lovely spring picture above to wish everyone Happy Springtime. We have just made the free machine embroidery designs for March available for dowmload on the website. There is a pretty bluebell design and this cherries design  which would brighten up any kitchen or other home items. There are also four more new designs. This Easter one  is perfect for making a card. I also like this Spring design which would also make a pretty card or look really good on home decor items.

A new addition to our ‘crazy’ range is this very cute turtle.  He would be a hit with any child.

There is also a lizard which would look good on clothing. It is a single colour so quick to stitch.

This week I have been learning how to do free motion quilting on the old Bernina I got as a bargain at a car boot sale. It is really easy to do using the Bernina and I made a pretty tea cosy for our teapot. Today I shall be using my new skill to make a present for my youngest daughter who has a birthday very soon. I’m looking forward to our family get together next weekend.

We have two new free designs in our shop. http://www.embroiderycrazy.co.uk/shop/ They will be available to download until the end of June. We also have more new designs online. They include this new springtime tulip design. Our garden is looking so much better today as we have finally had a few days with some rain. I have been walking out on the Naze in the mornings. This is an area which is a national nature reserve. I love the wildlife you see out there. I was trying to take a picture of an Oystercatcher when it flew off,

but I quite like the photo anyway!

Did you know that African elephants are extremely dangerous? Unlike their Asian cousins, which are the elephants we see in zoos, they will attack people. We discovered this on safari in Kenya when we suddenly had to pack up our lunch very quietly and get into our jeep as fast as possible as there were elephants just the other side of the bushes we were picnicing by! That was a very scary experience! But I still love elephants and one of our latest embroidery designs is an African elephant. We also have a pirate ship coming up, ideal for adorning makes for the little pirates in your life. We hope to have a Facebook page very soon too, so will be looking for followers!

Isn’t the weather fabulous for Spring? Mind you our gardens on the East coast of England could certainly do with some rain. Our lawn is looking very sad. But on the bright side all the flowers are blooming. Well as long as I keep watering them!!

We’ve had some beautiful spring weather here yesterday and today. Daffodils are in bloom and the birds are starting to be very active. Which reminds me we need to get our bird boxes up. We have a lovely friend who is very good at carpentry and he has made us three bird boxes for our garden. One is for very small birds and will go on the back of our house. One is going high on the garden shed and the other probably on a high fence post. As our garden is to a new build we don’t have any large  trees to put them on. I think we need to get them up soon!

Thinking about birds inspired me to start some bird designs and today I have been working on a complicated sparrowhawk design. I found some lovely bird pictures to use as reference. There is a barn owl, a kingfisher, a swallow and another blue bird I need to find the name of. It would be nice to do all of them, but I may get bored with birds, so not all at once! I love my seagull design, which I have embroidered on the fleece I wear for my morning beach walks.
